The West Highland White Terrier Club of California,
hereinafter referred to as the WHWTCC, and (you) __________________________________________,
the Adopter, enter into this Adoption Contract and agree to the
following terms:
• Today (month/day/year), _____________________________________,
the WHWTCC gives you possession of a dog known as _______________________.
• We agree to tell you everything we have
learned about the behavior, health and history of this dog and
have attempted to place this dog into the proper home with regard
to this knowledge.
• If your dog has not been spayed/neutered
before today, you agree to spay/neuter this dog within 90 days.
You agree to send the spay/neuter certificate to the WHWTCC Rescue
Chairperson.
• As the Adopter of this dog, you agree
to make a donation of $_____________ to the WHWTCC. Please make
all checks payable to: WHWTCC
• You agree to provide this dog with a suitable
home. This dog is to be kept indoors as a house pet, safe from
injury or escape, appropriately fed, given water, exercise and
any prescribed medications.
• You agree to provide appropriate identification
for this dog, either in the form of an ID tag or a microchip.
• You agree to license this dog in accordance
with all local animal regulations.
• You agree to keep this dog on a proper
leash for restraint whenever outside your home.
• If the dog becomes ill, you agree to take
it to a licensed veterinarian for treatment.
• If any behavioral problems or health problems
arise, and you no longer wish to, or cannot care for this dog
according to this Contract, you agree to return this dog to the
WHWTCC Rescue. You may not give/sell it to another person.
• The adoption of this dog is contingent
upon your maintaining proper living conditions for this dog. The
WHWTCC reserves the right to make a home inspection to assure
proper living conditions, and the dog may be repossessed if acceptable
care is not maintained.
• The WHWTCC shall not be responsible for
any bodily injuries or property damage caused by any adopted Westie,
or by the actions of its adoptive owners. The adoptive owner hereby
assumes sole responsibility for, and agrees to hold the WHWTCC
harmless from any and all loss, injury and expense (including
legal fees) by reason of liability imposed by law upon the WHWTCC,
or any of its officers, members and volunteers.
I, the Adopter, have read and understand the terms
and conditions of this Adoption Contract and promise to abide
by them.
